Sample Collection Guide

Follow these steps to collect your saliva sample at home.

Unbox Your Kit
  • Open your Genavli collection kit carefully
  • Verify all components are present: collection tube, funnel, stabilization cap, biohazard bag, and return envelope
  • Register your kit ID at genavli.com/register or in the app

Prepare
  • Do NOT eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for 30 minutes before collection
  • Rinse your mouth with water 10 minutes before collection
  • Find a comfortable, clean space

Collect Your Sample
  • Attach the funnel to the collection tube
  • Gently spit saliva into the tube until it reaches the fill line (about 2ml)
  • Avoid generating bubbles — they don't count toward the fill line
  • Close the funnel cap firmly — this releases the stabilization liquid
  • Remove the funnel and seal the tube tightly with the small cap
  • Gently invert the tube 5 times to mix

Ship It Back
  • Place the sealed tube in the biohazard bag
  • Place the biohazard bag in the prepaid return envelope
  • Drop it off at any courier pickup point or schedule a pickup
  • You'll receive a confirmation email when we receive your sample
Tips
  • Morning collection often yields better samples
  • If you have a dry mouth, gently rub your cheeks to stimulate saliva
  • The stabilization liquid preserves your DNA for up to 12 months at room temperature
  • Ship your sample within 7 days of collection for best results
Warnings
  • Do not eat or drink anything (except water) 30 minutes before collection
  • Do not put anything other than saliva in the tube
  • Do not open the stabilization cap before collecting your sample
  • Do not freeze your sample
